Born in the Bronx borough of New York City, Jones moved to Irvington, New Jersey, while in elementary school. He learned to swim after he was rescued from a near-drowning at a splash-down pool at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Pennsylvania when he was five years old.
Cullen attended North Carolina State University from 2003-2006 and turned pro in the summer of 2006. His notable accolades include a gold medal in the 4x100m free relay in the 2008 Olympics and in 2012 he was a three-time medalist including gold in the 4x100m medley relay and silver medals in the 4x100m free relay and 50m freestyle.
Cullen is a passionate advocate for learn-to-swim programs and you can read his letter of support for our project here.
